Chris Gardner

Owner and CEO
Gardner Rich

Chris Gardner is the owner and chief executive officer (CEO) of Gardner Rich, as well as an ardent philanthropist. Overcoming poverty and tremendous other obstacles to pursue a career in finance, he chronicled his story in an autobiography that became both New York Times and Washington Post No. 1 best-sellers and that later served as inspiration for the movie The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith.

John Borbi

John Borbi previously served as a financial adviser and investment specialist, managing close to $100 million dollars for his clients, until he ultimately became a financial thief, losing all his wealth and serving two years in federal prison for committing wire fraud. He is now a professional speaker who shares techniques for managing moral and ethical dilemmas based on his life experiences

James J. Donelon

James J. Donelon is president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NIAC) and serves on its executive committee as well as on the Surplus Lines Task Force as chair.  He serves as the Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance and previously served the Louisiana Department of Insurance in leadership positions as chief deputy commissioner and executive counsel.

Debra Ballen

Debra Ballen is general counsel and senior vice president of public policy for the Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) and also serves as the organization's corporate secretary.  In her roles, she is responsible for managing IBHS's legal matters and for overseeing its public policy efforts.

Jim Carroll

Jim Carroll is an international futurist and a trends and innovation expert who helps transform growth-oriented organizations into high-velocity innovators.  He has written more than 35 books and provides guidance on strategies that best helps clients align their activities with significant future trends.

Joe Plumeri

Joe Plumeri is chairman and former CEO of Willis Group Holdings, an international insurance broker.  Named as CEO when Willis was nearly bankrupt, Plumeri successfully returned the company to public ownership.  In 2008, he spearheaded the largest insurance brokerage deal in the past decade iwth Willis' $2.1 billion acquisition of Hilb Rogal & Hobbs (HRH).

Jim Britt

Jim Britt is a founder and principal of Scarborough & Britt and the managing partner of Britt Leadership Partners. Previously, he was a managing director with Marsh & McLennan Inc., including legacy Johnson & Higgins, and spent several years in regional brokerage. Britt has served in agency-broker relations and underwriting management roles. He has also served as CPCU Society president and chairman. In 2007, the CPCU Society published his first book, Building Leaders One on One. Britt has lectured in the United States, Europe and China. He completed graduate studies with The Institutes and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina.

LoriAnn Lowery-Biggers

As chief marketing officer of Navigators Group, Inc., LoriAnn Lowery-Biggers is responsible for managing the corporate strategy, distribution strategy, marketing, branding, P&L, and regional management structure and operational oversight of Navigators 19 field offices. She previously held roles as president of field operations for Navigators Insurance Company and as president of Navigators Commercial Insurance. LoriAnn has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry, most recently as President of Lloyd's of London-North America, which accounts for 55% of Lloyd's total business.

Matthew Mosher

Matthew Mosher is senior VP and chief rating officer for A.M. Best Company. He supervises over 125 analysts, chairs the corporate rating committee, and is a major contributor to A.M. Best’s rating criteria development. He has been employed at A.M. Best since 1995. Before his current position, Mosher was responsible for the property-casualty rating area for eight years and prior to that served in various managerial roles. He also served as A.M. Best's property-casualty actuary. Mosher speaks to many industry groups on a wide array of insurance and rating issues, and is a vocal advocate of the need to educate students about the opportunities within the insurance industry.
